It all started a few years ago when the government decided that the world needed the perfect families. How do you get perfect families? With perfect couples.
To find perfect couples they have to match the perfect pair. They watch you from the time you are born. They watch your personality shape, and then they do a match scan to find someone is almost exactly like you. They do this by finding someone with a similar personality. Your likes, dislikes, the way you learn, or your hobbies, etc. They stalk you for your entire life.
That is, until you or your soulmate are 16. Then you are put in their ‘jail’ or ‘lab’ as most people say. It’s just some white rooms that are connected together like an apartment were mostly everything was white the furniture, the walls, floor, ceiling, dishes.
Luckily we were still allowed to bring our own clothing, colored clothing, and not have to wear something white. There were also a few colored paintings that hung on some of the wall but other than that it was empty white space. Other than the glass window in the living room it stretched out really far and you could see other peoples rooms, but not inside them bc the windows were tinted just weird block shaped white brick with a tinted window in the middle.
When you and your ‘soulmate’ get old enough and fall in love (many fake it to make the government happy), you get married to eachother. Then they move you to a bigger place (but same layout and white everything) so you can have kids and raise a ‘perfect’ family.
The government does this to make a ‘perfect’ society. They’re all about making everything perfect, but that’s what they just don’t understand. They think if you put something in its ‘rightful’ place, it’ll just become perfect.
