Jillian Collins is an 8 year old girl who lives in the small town south of detroit and she is a poor, unloved, unwanted, un cared for. Her mother has the latest fashion of the early 1900's and is rich. But she is strict, rude, aggressive, and indiscreet. She abuses Jillian, her daughter, to take out her anger, she blames it on her daughter. Her father is a much more caring man. He cares for Jillian, he is more protective, but his controlling, muscled up wife refuses him to ever leave the marriage or disagree with anything she says. How will Jillian get through this? What is her plan to get out of her ruined life to a whole new world?
