There are only two things Skytte Irie hates more than the rain- pirates and alcohol.

She’s met too many pirates, seen too many towns and people torn apart by the scum of their kind to be able to look at one and not see the problems they cause. She was raised by a marine and despite her pirate heritage, she’s fully bought into the world she lives in. Pirates are to be hunted and imprisoned for the safety of the average civilian. Not to mention it’s the only way to pay back her family for taking her in when she was young.

Alcohol- the reason behind that hatred is much simpler. She’s never been able to hold her liquor, so in turn she avoids drinking for the most part.

So, when one night at a bar throws this marine at both, she readies herself for a fight. Just because said pirate has an annoyingly charming grin and an innocent dash of freckles to further disarm her, doesn’t mean she’s going to treat him any differently than any other pirate. The moment his face and his bounty connect in her mind, she’s determined to take him down.

There’s meaning in that old saying, however.

The line between love and hate are thin, and for this marine, she’s about to discover how hard it is to toe the line.
