Her ragged breathing never ceased to calm down. Still clenching the now bloody knife in her hand. The deed was done. Everyone was dead. Everyone she loved. That was the horrid woman's plan all along. Hide in the shadows then once your guard is down she attacks, like a snake. Valentina scoffed, people always praised her for having that same skill. They were nothing to each other now. She glanced over at the body lying in a pool of blood. The crimson liquid seeping from the multiple stab wounds. This was like any other mission, take out the main target and any accomplices following a take-no-prisoners rule. She could feel the tears welling up. No! She wouldn't do this to herself not now. Any other situation she could slit a man's throat and not even bat an eye. So why was this situation any different? Perhaps it was who was laying on her kitchen floor. Valentina shook her head trying to rid herself of the storm brewing behind her eyes. She stood up and wiped the blood off her favorite knife before placing it back in her boot holster. Once at the door she took one last glance at her mother before walking out of their apartment forever.

Valentina De Luca's whole life changes in the blink of an eye. On her way home from school she gets ambushed and kidnapped after taking her routine shortcut through Central Park. Upon arrival to an unknown location she is informed that she is a sleeper agent who's been undercover for the past 10 years. She's been recaptured by a secret intelligence agency in order for her to be reactivated as an agent. Now activated, 18 year old Valentina must travel throughout Brazil and take out a dangerous arms dealer, the infamous Esteban Menendez.

It's the last summer before college, and Jonas Avery knows he should be excited. Instead, he hides out at home, avoiding his friends, his family, and everything that resembles his old life. Because nothing will be normal again-because of The Accident, when everything started falling apart. Brennan Davis knows she needs to stand up and face her anxiety-the deep, dark, debilitating dread that rules her everyday life. Because what stops her from going out into the world and just living is going to get a whole lot worse. She's leaving for college in the fall, where she'll be confronted with even more to worry about. To get back up sometimes you have to fall down, hard . . . When Jonas crashes into Brennan-in a harmless, albeit embarrassing fender bender-the two teens connect in ways they never expected. As friends, they help each other overcome their biggest falls and faults, and soon discover that while love can't fix everything, it's sometimes a place to start. Sensitive, wry, and unabashedly authentic, The Opposite of Falling Apart isn't about finding perfection in another person or fixing the things we think are broken. Instead, Micah Good has penned an enchantingly honest novel about accepting the very pieces of ourselves that make us unique, whole, and undeniably human.
