For thirteen year old Spencer Johnson, life has always been an adventure. She's social, funny, a bit weird, and a total extrovert. For fourteen year old Adam Reader, it's the total opposite. He might be popular, but he's always been on the outside. He's shy, quiet, and always gone with the crowd. When he met Spencer he realized that maybe the world can be more colorful. But when their friends become enemies, these two pretend not to know each other. They pretend like the feelings that are obviously there aren't. In this modern day Romeo and Juliet story, they see how far peer pressure can go.
