You've read plenty of arranged marriages stories, right? Or, at least started them, puked, and found something (hopefully) better. Well, let's both hope that this is that better story.
Meet our bride-to-be, Adele. She's spent the past six months in hiding in her family's manor, faking illness, and making everyone at court think the palace wild-child is either dying of her family's mystery disease or she's pregnant and shamed. But no one guessed she'd been turned into a 'hideous snake lady'.
Her fiance was absolutely thrilled to get out of carrying his family's weight and to be marrying the woman next in line for the throne (with only her aging uncle and sickly cousin in the way) who also happens to be rumored as the most beautiful woman in the capital. What he didn't expect was that this renowned beautiful woman to only communicate via letters, he would have an enforced curfew and restricted movement, and this new life would be filled with metaphorical (and literal) snakes.
Will our heroine be able to toe the delicate line she has been from her manor? Will her puppet play his part as a pawn, or will he resist his strings? What are the rules to this game, and, more importantly, who are the other players?
