Persephone Marie Cassius, was a simple girl who was bestowed onto this world. Normally the birth of a new baby girl would cause people to rejoice, celebrate, shed tears of happiness. Not this time.
In the world that Persephone lives in, every human child is born with a name carved with black ink into the inner part of their forearm. This name, also referred to as a Mark, has been known to signify an archangel, a supernatural being who would protect its user for as long as they shall live.
Persephone is the only human child who was born without, protection, without a chance, without a Mark.
       So they thought.
