Meet Avery Beth Michelson. She has always been St. John W. High School's top student. Straight A's, honor roll, vice president of the yearbook committee - you would think she had it all. Except she doesn't. Years ago she was one of the most looked up to people in her school, but after an unfortunate accident, her entire life shattered. She stopped talking to her friends, most of her family, and she shut herself away from anyone who tried to help. So how did she go from being one of the most respected people in the school to being a no-one years later? Meet Flynn James Bennett. He and Avery used to be childhood best friends, but after the accident, he chose to move away. Now, years later, he decided that he had unfinished business to deal with in the small city of Carter Bay. So what kind of 'unfinished business' causes him to move back after so many years? Meet the new vigilante in town: Silver Dagger. When he comes to Carter Bay on a secret mission, but ends up saving an 18-year-old girl from harm's way instead - he decides to stay in this city that could use his help. Throw in a complicated past, a rise in criminals, a love interest, and too many secrets - no wonder everyone is trying to find out who is under the vigilante's mask. " I'm sick of you putting your hands on me Johnny!" A loud gunshot went off, echoing around the house, and for the first time, it was quiet. No more door slamming, no more cleaning up my mother's blood off the walls, and no more fighting. I remember asking my mother "Are we free?" I swear it felt like Christmas or New Year's. All I can hear is cheering in my head or maybe ringing. For the first time in 12 years Mother and I were able to sleep that hot summer night in bed together. April's life changed once she saw her dad Johnny get murdered right in front of her, by her mother June. A self-defense case quickly turned to manslaughter and the law turned against June at the drop of a hat. June was sentenced to 25 to life, a then 14-year-old April was left alone. Her dad said didn't want anything to do with her as she was defending her mother and June never knew her parents as she grew up in group homes. April is now a 25-year-old private eye and teaches self-defence classes in honour of her mother. On her off days, she works at a gentleman's club called "The Claw" where she meets Derek Hill and their life is forever changed. But April has a secret and no one will ever find out, cause if you did you'll end up just like Johnny. ❌This book is not for the weak❌ 21+
