Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn fanfic, begins right after the excerpt from Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices) that is in the Shadowhunter Academy miniseries. I just couldn't handle not knowing what happened, so I had to write the continuation of the scene. I LOVE Emma and Julian!

Emma is in love with her parabatai, who she is forbidden by Clave law to love.

They didn't fear her appearance, they feared her blood. When the heavenly fire that claimed her family took over the manor, she had barely escaped with her life. The only evidence of it being her bright gold eyes that seemed to swirl with a inner fire. People saw that before in Jace Herondale. They once feared him too. After the fire, Jia Penhallow adopted the small girl and five years later shipped her to the Los Angeles Institute in the hopes the trusted Blackthorn children would lift her spirits. Vita soon grew attached to the siblings with the grip of a hungry man that was given food.
