Fu Mao is a Dark Witch, brought up Evil by her Good father through a misunderstanding.
But Evil does not remain in power for long.
In the woods behind the only home she has ever known, she saves a young, happy-go-lucky redhead child from certain death. Cheshire, a small witch, reciprocates the gift of love that Fu Mao had unwittingly given her. The woods, which are forbidden to all, rouse her suspicions when she learns that Cheshire's mother was kidnapped by the Dark Forces that reigned previously 14 years ago. Clues stack up on each other when father and son appear, Zephyr, the boy, wounded, begging for treatment.
The Evil that Zephyr has seen compels her to defeat the Evil that she faces, and leads Cheshire and Zephyr into the inner wrappings of the Darkest Magic ever performed, the threats growing against her at every twist and turn with Death.
In the process, she, along with Zephyr, is whisked away to a magical school for the Darkest witches and wizards of the age, and untangles an even greater plot to save Cheshire from her kidnapper. Can she save Cheshire from the beasts that await her? Or will the darkness consume her newfound loves? Will she ever find her way without Death's hand?
