She vigorously shook her head letting the salty substance run down her cheeks.
" 'least I know I've still got L-L-Lois Lane"--he mumbled squeezing her hand for the last time.
"Leave me with a kiss that lingers, one I can still taste long after you're gone." she murmured against his lips, her voice a fragile whisper dissolving into the space between them. Tears traced silent rivers down her cheeks, each one a quiet plea, a sorrowful imprint he would carry forever-a reminder that some choices can never be undone.
And so he kissed her-fiercely, desperately, as if he could pour every unsaid word, every unspoken apology into that final moment. It was a kiss weighted with regret, aching with the tenderness of what was and the grief of what would never be. A farewell dressed in longing, a love story unraveling at the seams.
This was it. The end. Theirs - at least for now.
