The Girl Who Lived

Chelsea is a twelve-year-old girl who was born in the midst of a world drowned in chaos. An unknown virus affected first the animals, which in turn became vicious killers attacking humans. Those who got away became the carriers of a new, unknown and dangerous disease that ate away at their brain, reducing them to mindless killing machines. The end of the world wasn't like people had imagined it - no dead rising from the grave, no robots, no aliens or even war; the cause was the influenza virus spreading at alarming rates through the population. Chelsea was born in a quarantine zone around 26 years after the outbreak, and at the age of 8 her parents took her and escaped, hoping to keep her from the military and the loss of her innocence. They were so wrong. Alone and scared, now at the age of 12, Chelsea found a group and joined them. But this adventure hides bigger trouble than she could ever expect.
