Jewel of the Samurai

This is an original story set in the late Edo Period with some fantasy and supernatural elements added.

Since the dawn of time, a war has raged between those who fight for the dark and those who defend the light.

Born in the year of the ominous Fire Horse but on the hour of the highly revered and vigorous Dragon, regardless of what others say about her birth, Houki has inherited her ancestor's vision as well as his great samurai spirit.

However, times are changing, as the era of warriors is drawing to an end. The shogunate that has been a tall, sturdy tree for more than two hundred years, is slowly beginning to rot upon being challenged by the imperial court and several domains who were derided under shogunal rule.

Amidst the turbulent times, one group remained true to the old ways and risked their lives to preserve the traditional shogunate system. Fighting as brothers-in-arms, the Shinsengumi upheld the code of honor of the samurai.

Old clashed with the new as the age of turmoil is set into motion, but in the darkness lurks much more than political unrest-something much darker...

The Tokugawa princess fights to protect the legacy that has been passed down to her, protect her family from the possibility of cessation in the hands of their enemies, and end what no one else can.
