Two years ago a plane disappeared. It's whereabouts unknown to the world. One person survived. 15 year old Rose Heart was left alone and lost in a strange place with only a wilderness guide, found in a tattered suitcase and the need to survive.

Now, another plane disappears. It's whereabouts unknown to the world. One person survives. 17 year old James Matthews is left alone and lost in a strange place with only a mysterious girl, found watching in a tree and the need to get home.

Rose has been alone for so long she's forgotten how to let people into her world. James has been alone his whole life, his parents never having the time for him, he's never let anyone in. Together their personalities clash and arguments are frequent, but with no one else around, they have to put up with each other even if it means they have to swallow their pride and apologise. Rose's great escape was getting lost, but James' will be getting home. James and Rose must find out the hard way that you can't always fight life's battles on your own, and sometimes you have to find someone else before you find yourself.

Will they make the great escape? Or be lost forever?
