Red is a mustang who makes his life on the Great Plains of America in the early 1800s. His life wasn't easy in it's beginning, and it wasn't about to get easier.

Follow Red on his path, starting from his pleasant days as an ornery little colt; and hear the tale of his remarkable life.

WARNING:

THIS SHORT STORY IS INTENTIONALLY MADE TO BE ILLITERATE. IT IS A CHALLENGE FOR ME AS A GRAMMAR-NAZI. I HAVE ENJOYED MAKING THIS STORY SOUND THIS WAY REGARDLESS.

It is also written as a tribute to my Jack. So this story is for me.

"Dance with me." While I knew it wasn't a demand, it wasn't a question either. I hesitated and he noticed. "Come on Grace, give this gentleman the honor of a dance." "I don't see a gentleman anywhere." He chuckled, stepping closer and tucking his thumbs into his tight jean pockets. He looked like every woman's dream--dark jeans that hugged him sinfully, golden-tanned skin contrasted by his white-fitted shirt, a black, wide-brimmed cowboy hat, and a smile that could send any woman on her knees. Not to mention a voice that coated your skin like silk sheets. I hated how much I noticed. "You're right, but I would like the honor anyway... ma'am." ********************* Meet Grace--living the city life, reserved, eager to please, loyal to a fault. Feeling empty for reasons she's not yet sure of, she's adamant on chasing anything that makes her feel free. Meet Colt--living the country life, private, stubborn, outspoken. Feeling empty for reasons he's well aware of, he hides in his daily routine. Grace can't seem to figure out why she holds nothing back when it comes to Colt. He's absolutely infuriating. Colt can't seem to understand the affect Grace has on him, and why he cares what she does. She's entirely maddening. When the two get lost in the wilderness, it's up to Colt to get them back. Can they put their differences aside long enough to survive? Is it Colt who will save Grace, or is it she who will be his saving grace? **PREQUEL TO "COWBOY UP (COWBOY GANGSTER SHORT STORY)"** Heff Wilder's world is shattered when he receives word that his sister and brother-in-law, Mandy and Frank Zayne, have died in a car accident. Since the death of their parents when Heff was ten, Heff and Mandy were each other's rocks. Now, at just twenty-one, Heff suddenly feels lost and alone. Things get worse when he learns of a special clause inserted into Mandy and Frank's will concerning their horse ranch: Heff must live on the property and run the ranch with Frank's younger brother, Garland-or the ranch will be turned over to the state to be auctioned off. Five years ago, Heff fled the ranch to get away from Garland Zayne. How could he go back now and live with the one man who had hurt him most? Garland Zayne is shocked-and infuriated-by the unexpected clause in his brother's will. Garland had busted his back right alongside Frank to build the ranch up from nothing-the ranch should have rightfully gone to him. Focusing on his anger and confusion over the ranch distracted him from the unbearable loss of his big brother and the woman who had loved him like a sister. An avoidable loss that he caused-at least, that's what he believes. And now, amidst his grief, guilt, and anguish, he is forced to confront a troubling, painful past as well-in Heff Wilder. Facing the young man after five years stirs up memories both good and bad, but mostly bad as he can't forget how he wronged the boy-then turned on him, causing Heff to flee his presence and never return to the ranch. Until now. Now, Heff and Garland must learn to work together or lose the ranch. But before that can happen, they must confront the past... and that one night that ruined everything.

An Ol' timey story about the good old days in the west as one man cannot rest after his wife's death. filled with vengeance he tells a story of how he avenges his wife and captures its killer. Along the way, he meets his friends who share their experiences too of how it would be in the Wild West and their very own struggles. Little do they know, their extent to avenge such someone will bring out the worst of man. Each stepping being harder and harder as it progressed more in the west. Each goal getting more desperate or more drunk. Their goals were clear but was their conscience? I've had fun writing this as it uses a bit of common language but I hope you all have fun reading this as much as I did. (Preferable to read in a souther accent)
