A light within darkness

As a guidance counselor for troubled teens and a volunteer at a crisis center, dealing with children and teens in high risk situations and environments is something that Kirin O'Shea does best. He takes on the hardest of cases, the worst of parents and family, the most broken of children. The day the file of Alex Shiandris, a little six year old girl being very badly abused physically by her father, a mother powerless to do anything to stop it and a brother mad at the world, slips across his desk is a day Kirin will never forget. He knows he can't save them all - but he's never given up. The further and further he comes to know this broken family, especially Alex herself, he feels his hold on the situation slipping...can he hold on enough to truly be of help to this little child- before it's to late?
