After graduating from the DWMA, Soul decides to get a job, and Maka discovers where her mother is, and needs to visit her immediately. 
She announces she's going to travel around the world with her mom for a year, and if she enjoys it enough, forever.

Soul fears that if he doesn't tell her how he feels, he'll never be able to. He's so nervous. His worst fear is being rejected and forced to live on without her. He knows after she leaves, he may never see her again, but he doesn't want to take the risk.
