Caroline loves her new friend Lily. They do almost everything together. But as time goes on, it becomes more and more apparent that Lily is not everything she seems to be. Where did Lily come from, what is she hiding, and what's the real reason for their intense friendship? For those of you who are already familiar with my writing, I should let you know that this short story is nothing like anything else I've written. I wrote it as a birthday gift for a ten-year-old girl. She devoured the whole thing in couple of hours and when she finished, she told me she loved it. This ten-year-old girl is very girly, she likes unicorns and rainbows and magical worlds, but she also likes Sci-Fi and scary, threatening bad guys. As a result, the genre of this book is quite niche, and it may not be appropriate for every ten-year-old. There are some confrontations I would categorise as "mild peril." Spoiler Alert: If you're a parent looking for something for a child of a similar age, there are two deaths in this book and so you may want to check it out first because I recognise every child is different. (The girl I wrote is for said they weren't graphic deaths, and she was fine with both in the context of the story.) Anyway, she asked me to put it out there for others to enjoy, so ... enjoy.Complete

If you met Maia you'd think of her as the same as anyone you've ever met. The girl on the magazine, and for a while, just for a while she wanted to believe the same thing. But she was different. The young girl does lose something that makes a life feel much looser, including their status, but there is always a boy, who won't give up. So eventually she has to stand up and take being stuck between guy crazy best friends who become her people, the guy, the dad who moves too fast, the sister who conceals her pain, the past she can't hide and a pen and paper patches up her life very slowly with tape and glue but at the very least ... some people are worth writing for and Maia is not simple. ✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* . *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ When Maia loses her mother to cancer, she takes on high school life as if nothing ever happened. Her mother's death has conflicted her thinking. Maybe she should just smile... it's what everyone chooses to do. But what if the muscles don't work the same as they once had?
