17 year old Kiana Dustain loves and hates the rain. On one hand it hides all of her sorrows and shame so she can let it all out, no one will ever see the tears running down her cheeks, they will just look like rain drops. On the other hand she is very susceptible to illnesses and if she stays out in the rain too long she is bound to be sick the next day.

While walking home from school one day, it begins to rain, and poor Kiana has no umbrella to shelter her until she gets home. Along the way, she runs into the school bad boy and delinquent, Mal Jaliviak. At first he is nice, concerned for her, and flirtatious, but surely he can't be good for her in the end, can he?
