Somewhere out in a crowded forest in Yankton, South Dakota, spring is here. Following the life of a young stag and his mother, we view their small world through their eyes and their ways of looking on life. The forest they call home is peaceful, crowded, and shrinking by the week. It all starts with the bulldozers in the harsh winter, then red corn and lethal guns. Through all this, Ky (the young stag) must learn to take his own independent path as he approaches adult hood. He's scared, which is normal, but he's not scared to be on his own. The world is not what it used to be back when he was a fawn. He was always taught the outside world was dangerous, and the forest was the only safe place for their kind. But times like this, everyone is asking the same question: Is the forest all that safe anymore? Ky has to learn how to adapt to this dangerous life, and still be able to have a mate and carry out the expectations of a stag. What happens when two worlds come head to head? One has to win, and destroy the other. The odds for Forest life aren't looking good.
