You are now at that point -- your manuscript is finished (or at least you think it is). This is now the point you have to decide -- do I want to self-publish my work or shop around for a publisher? 

No one can make this decision for you. Your first step is to make sure you get informed on all of the options available to you. Be informed before making a decision so nothing can surprise you in the end. 

This book is a collection of information on both self-publishing and contracting through an independent publisher. It is a combination of QA and advice from the views of a publisher who does not try and get authors/writers against self-publishing -- I just want to make sure you are aware of the process for publishing a book.
