Ever since he was a boy, Hajime Hinata knew something was different about himself, others saw it too. He felt no purpose in any way. He was just plain...ordinary, to be exact. No matter how many clubs, extracurricular activities, or sport teams he joined he's always the same. Nothing more and nothing less.
Chiaki Nanami formally was a confident girl. She used to believe in this warm-feeling called hope, until a certain day changed that. As life goes on she's bullies' number one target. Now a days she keeps to herself, thanks to her low self-esteem.
Lost, lonely, and depressed, Nagito Komaeda has lost it all. There's nothing left for him in this world, yet something out there keeps urgring him to live on. He doesn't know what it is but he'll know when he finds it.

This is a Nagito Komaeda x reader story. Despair and hope. You live for despair, you love despair, you'd do anything even if you have to kill someone. Hajime Hinata is on a class trip to Jabberwock Island with ultimate students at Hope's peak academy. Although he's with kids from school and would most likely get along with them...he feels a strange awkwardness when around them. There's a catch though, Hajime isn't really like the others; he doesn't have an ultimate. Because of that, he thinks the others might look down on him. But there is one student that looks down on him the most, Nagito Komaeda: the ultimate lucky student. He believes since Hajime doesn't have a talent, he's not valid like everyone else and decides to put him down for something he can't control. Hajime just wants to be friends with everyone, but because this inconvenience he's very insecure about being around the others, and distances himself. Then Kazuichi Souda and Chiaki Nanami decide to include him since they feel bad, they just want him to be happy. Hajime starts to open up a bit after hanging out with them a lot, maybe with this new confidence he can get that one stubborn student to finally like him. Hajime Hinata wasn't expecting much when he won the lottery to attend Hope's Peak Academy. The only reason he applied was so he could guarantee scholarship money to go to the same university as his childhood friend Chiaki. Being an average student, he didn't think he would make much of an impact on his classmates or even the school as a whole. However, after returning one of Gundham's Dark Deva's of Destruction, he opened the door to become one of the school's hosts in the café, or Ultimates as they're more well known. When he decides to join the Ultimate Club, he gets to know those working in the café, but there's only one person he wants to get to know better: Nagito Komaeda. Luckily, it seems Nagito wants to get to know him better, too, but Hajime is too afraid to make his move. Hopefully Nagito will be coax his way into Hajime's heart. Nagito Komaeda is a mute boy. He's been mute his entire life, and fins himself to dream of what it would be like to speak, and being envious of those who do speak. Without any parents or legal guardians to adopt him or such, he lives at a hospital near his school. There, he has a few friends. Although, each day, a butterfly tends to come and visit his hospital bedroom window, an odd occurrence, to put it in simplest terms. Alongside this, Hajime Hinata is what people would call a normal boy. His life usually was nothing to write home about, and he was at least able to realize that. He hardly had any friends, the count only being two, and he usually felt a longing. A longing for a more unique and special life, something that would contrast from the rest of it all. As if to grant his simple wish, a butterfly is usual to turn up by his own bedroom window every day, checking up on him like some worried mother.
