A village in the sky; the redwood trees joined together like a web, and in its centre was the Lantis, the core, the light and the heart of the village in ways both literal and not. The gleam of the globe illuminating hearts and the sky in equal measures, waves of radiance sweeping over the town, like a heartbeat.
But as I stood on the redwood balcony, I saw my home on fire.

The first anomaly was Stan Pines. I knew him as Stanley, he had always been Stanley when I was younger, when it was just him and I, but his niece and nephew knew him as Stanford (or Grunkle Stan). When I left Stan's care 21 years ago, I thought I knew him better than anyone. Sure, I was five, and sure, we probably didn't talk about everything but... You would've thought he'd have mentioned his brother. Stanford Pines was the second anomaly. I had spent an entire month in his room, never recognizing it was actually his.
