In an 1839 poverty-stricken, industrialized neighborhood of New York City, nine-year-old Sammy Jane Sumper has lived in poverty and shame, due to her selfish and abusive mother, Alice, whose scandalous life has ostracized herself from society. Alice's blasphemous life is composed of her unfavorable occupation and illegitimate daughter, who has never met her own father.

When Sammy is sent to work for the cruel and powerful factory owner, Mr. Woolventomb, she at first contradicts his harsh methods of "encouraging" the workers, but then slowly succumbs to his unfair demands. She does this out of fear that she could be fired, and also by the fact that her mother would gladly throw her out of their two-room tenement and into the streets, were Sammy not bringing home the weekly pay.

Then, a life-changing, yet risky, opportunity is presented to her. If she takes it, she will be able to leave her past behind, as well as create a positive future for herself and many others. If she plays her cards right, she will get what she has always desired, along with many other additional benefits to accompany it. She will finally 'make something of herself,' and prove to everyone that she is not going to end up just like her mother: poor, and alone. It sounds like the perfect, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to her, but Sammy does not realize that with every benefit comes a burden.

She is walking on thin ice, and one false step could send her and those she cares about spiraling down into a worse situation in life than she had lived in before.

Carmen is screwed up. She's been in and out of juvie all her life and seriously there's no place she'd rather be. Until she gets released from juvie unexpectedly, given a probation officer, and forced to live with a normal family and go to a normal school. Carmen doesn't even know the definition of normal. Much less family, or school. Separated from the only system she's known and has stayed constant all her life, she finds it hard to adjust to the world outside the concrete building. The structure and rules aren't the same. In juvie, rules were like opinions, people ignored them. But in the real world, supposedly it wasn't socially acceptable to steal cash, or graffiti the front of the school building. Enter the Harrisons, the family who's taking care of her. The matriarch of the family hates her criminal record. Sammy, the seven-year-old, is too clingy, too innocent, and too naive to understand anything. Then there's Jay, the guy she's forced to share a room with. A self-righteous son of a bitch, Jay doesn't understand Carmen and doesn't understand her self destructive way of thinking. Though he's not bothered by her, he's fascinated with her. The family represents the structure and rules that Carmen doesn't, nor wants to, understand. But as Carmin starts to push back at the structure and rules suddenly rushed into her life, it starts to change. Her whole way of living is thrown off balance, what she deems normal isn't. And through a series of events, she starts to spiral out of control, and she doesn't know if someone can pull her up from that. Carmen was given a second chance, but is it a good chance, or is it just another recipe for getting thrown right back to square one, like she always is? Because second chances don't usually get handed out. And she's about to learn what it means to get a second chance. ____

(This novel is under revision as of 2-5-19 up until I feel the true motivation to scrub through most of my older work. Also this summary is something to be fixed but until then) A thousand years ago the extermination of Earth from unknown circumstances brought about the end of humanity for the planet. The end of animals, most of nature, technology and everything that advanced in between. After Earth's destruction a new life began with the survivors of the near extinction of humanity. They constructed a singular civilization encased in a wall for protection from outside forces, built on the hope to reproduce and thrive with the life they were forced into. Zykard would be the start of a second life for humans But within that time of rebirth some of the survivors surged with horrors of Pre-Reearth. Heresy, treachery, riots, thefts, murders and revolutions. A need to for order was introduced, and brought about the leader of Zykard and seven factions of ten people. A thousand years later theres a change. An outsider appears and seemingly becomes the new leader of Zykard, bringing more hardships with their hopes. Crimson, a seventeen year old girl faces the verge of adulthood. The final trials being the only gap between her new reality. A new injection to be given to everyone after the trials. She will face the ugly second face of what Zykard really is behind the curtains. Face pain she never thought would be possible and lose what she loves the most. She will understand what it's like to become apart of the Zykard.

Twelve-year-old Sarah Lee longs to remain in the golden fields under a starry sky forever, but life has other plans for her. After the bleak spring of 1816 yields meager crops, Sarah's family flees its home in the English countryside to labor at a textile factory in newly industrial London. A factory accident several months later leaves Sarah's father out of work and her family desperate for money. Despite the worries of her older brother Thomas, Sarah disguises herself and ventures into a dangerous new job. Sarah soon learns that life in London is not as simple as it seems. She meets Jamie, a sullen, aggressive boy who helps her adjust to the new conditions. But Jamie has dark secrets of his own, and his reluctance to trust strangers clashes with Sarah's burning curiosity about his past. As the city creeps towards winter, Sarah and her friends stand face-to-face with the horrors of London poverty-rising prices, rampant crime, disease, and hopelessness-and it becomes clear that not everyone will make it out alive. Everyone has a secret, and the consequences can be more devastating than any of them can imagine. "Dark, emotionally gripping, highly researched... very impressive." This is one of my favorite novel. Read this for at least more than 5 times. 🖤 Credits to the original owner. ⚠️⚠️⚠️This story is just for my keeps and I corrected some grammars in the story from it's original cause I found it inconvenient myself. Here's the Prologue of the story: Rong Qingyan is a 21st century successor of a medicinal family, proficent in medical knowledge. But in the end, she has died in the hands of her relatives. Murong Qingyan is Sheng Hong Continent's Murong family's legitimate miss. But even though she is a legitimate daughter, she is the Murong family's shame because her appearance is ugly and her meridians are blocked, making her a trash that cannot cultivate. After she transmigrated, she became her. When she reopened her eyes, the originally unable to cultivate trash let everyone stumble in shock. Flipping over the clouds, going against the heavens and changing fate, letting those that originally looked down on her regret it deeply. Contracting magical beasts, concocting immortal pills. Meeting gods, killing gods; meeting Buddhas, killing Buddhas; swearing to let all those that looked down on her see her in a new light. When the trash turned into a universally shocking prodigy, when the ugly appearance was shed off, she was no longer the original her. In the whole course of events, whose heart did she actually steal? Her ex fiancé regretted it deeply, but to no avail. The family that looked down on her is now immensly remorseful, yet they can't change anything anymore. When she stood at the peak of the world, he was always by her side protecting and guarding her, letting her be able to freely soar in the sky. He said: "In my life, I wish for nothing else. I only wish to love you forever." She said: "If it is what you desire." (*** Chapter 1 to 173)
