Delaney Novak has always thought of herself as a healer. But after moving to Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and taking a job at Bellefonte Asylum as a psychiatrist , she soon realizes her bright eyed dreams of being a doctor and healing the human mind are further out of reach than planned. Her days are instead spent administering drugs to the criminally insane and trying to make it through the double shifts at the understaffed hospital. Each day becomes harder to endure, and more dull than the last.
Just when Dr. Novak starts rethinking her career, a deranged, but charming criminal comes to the small town's asylum. With no concrete past, but plenty of destruction in the present, this patient awakens Delaney's mind and her original dreams of curing psychosis. But soon she finds herself feeling drawn to the devil himself. Ideals she had once stood by seem to fade away for this small town doctor with each passing session with the oddly disarming and peculiar patient. Each day she finds herself wearing a new mask, not sure of who she has become or where she is going.
She may soon discover how dangerous masks can be.
*This story is based loosely on the origin of the Joker and Harley Quinn. I don't know any more than what the first paragraph of Wikipedia tells. Just that she was his psychiatrist before his obsessed lover. Just kind of going with that main theme and running with it. Characters have been given new names/new personal histories, and this story doesn't take place in Gotham. I'm not the greatest writer and there will be mistakes. This is purely a creative outlet for me.*

Next thing I know I was tackled to the ground with a steaming Gally on top of me. He went for my face but it was easy enough for me to block him. I had to struggle a little to fix myself enough to roll us. Once I got myself in just the right angle while blocking Gally's random throws I pushed him off me. His hands held tightly on my shirt pulling me with him. We hit a slight slope perfectly causing us to roll a few times. I made sure that when we stopped I was on top.
