In the midst of World War 1, when heartache and helplessness are plentiful, most families couldn't help but to buckle under the pressure of their obligations... Obligations to serve their country, blindly or unwillingly.

The Abrins are no different. With his family torn to pieces before his boys even have their first whiff of the powder found on the front-lines, Mr Abrin will do anything in his power to keep his boys just like the oak beams he taught them to work- Strong, decisively out-of-line, and with just enough of their own grain to barely creak under a hammer.
