Having grown a deep mistrust in humanity, Emery has learned to survive on her own. This all changes when she meets a man who has been locked in containment his entire life. Can the girl who only knows how to run and the man in the box learn to trust one another and work together to survive in this cruel world?

Maxine also learns that her family has been lying to her about who she really is. Ultimately, when the Advisors come to destroy the island, she must face the fact that she is the key to the island's salvation, and embracing her rapidly developing abilities is the only way to do so.

Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. Governments across the globe found that humanity wasn't what it was before and had become dark and terrible to live in, so to fix that they made a small utopia pulling in families, scientists, and important government officials to create the perfect pair of humans. Those two humans would be trained to kill what humanity has become and start it all over, so the world would be a better place. But once they make the female, they find that she is not like her partner. She has a different goal in mind than restarting humanity. This is my first book, so it may have a few mess ups but I hope you enjoy, I have worked hard to at least get this out. After surviving in an underwater bunker for 15 years, 5 young adults are sent out to scope out the land to start over. Again. Three soldiers-one of them being the daughter of the Chief of North America-and two scientists began their journey feeling more or less hopeful about the road ahead. But less than 48 hours after stepping onto the surface, they realize it's not as safe as they thought and there are enemies-dead and alive-lurking in every corner. - AN: Obviously it's still a work in progress, but I'm hoping to get some comments and feedback about what I have so far so maybe I can one day publish when it's done. I also have plot lines for two other books that take place years after this one ends so it's a possible trilogy! I edited some things along the way but never really reviewed it as a whole so there may be some inconsistencies so let me know if you see any or any plot holes. I'm also open to suggestions. I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. No matter how much she wants to forget her past she can't because she does not want to forget the first boy she ever loved who was also a testing experiment with her who she called "Yo-kun " She's haven't seen him in 7 years and wonders if he's even alive or if she will ever see him again. A new kid arrives at school and all the kids fear him as he looks like he can be the son of Satan. Maddie is curious about the boy who looks fearsome to everyone and with cold aura around him and she realizes its her first love " Yo-kun"!
