After finding out Riker's ex had been constantly abusing him and that he had cancer, Rydel made Riker promise not to hide anymore secrets. He stops hiding secrets, but once someone important comes back into his life, he breaks the promise and keeps it a secret.

I'm simply writing it because it makes it easier for me to write about the relationship between Becca and her parents this way. I'm writing this because it's all I know in a relationship between daughter and parent. This way it will be able to write more realistic.
