I crept around the corner, careful to step lightly and not make any noise. It was cold so I was shivering slightly. Something smelled. There was faint light coming from the grates that led out onto the street and i could hear cars passing by. There was the occasional splash down one of the grates from puddles on the street. As I crept closer to their hiding place I decided to take my shoes off and stash them in one of the pipes leading away from the workers tunnel. I also left my pack their just in case someone found me. I had found a hiding place down here on one of my earlier trips and I put my stuff there so i could find it later. Shoeless, I started to slow down, realizing that there were puddles all around me, and I didn't want to make noise splashing through the puddles. I stopped at the corner of the tunnel. i could hear voices coming from just around the corner. "Smith said he spotted her coming into the tunnel" The gruff one said, I assumed it was Nathan. "We need to search all the ajacent tunnels. We don't want her in here." He said again. I didn't stay to hear any more, I rushed back off to my hiding place, which was big enough for a full grown person. Just as I pulled the stone slab into place I heard two men come around the corner into my tunnel. I quieted my breath. "She isn't her." Nathan said. "She must be. Smith said that she was here and he wouldn't have any reason to lie." "Not that we know of." "Well there is one thing, but --" He was cut off by a sharp yell in one of the other tunnels. They raced out of the tunnel and I didn't waste any time getting out of the hiding place and into the ladder that led up into the streets.
