Emma was innocent, normal to be exact. she never drank, smoked, or went to parties. She was your average good girl. Who got straight 'A's' in every class and who never had a boyfriend.

Luke Hemmings was no where near as innocent as Emma, he has done things in his past he regrets, Luke wasn't normal at all. He drank all the time, smoked everyday, and went to parties. He was your average bad boy. Who didn't care about his grades and who had more 'girlfriends'\ one night stands, than he could count.

What happens when Luke's grades drop and he needs a tutor? Well Emma happens to be asked to tutor him. And to say she was scared was a understatement, she was frighten. Not of Luke, okay maybe a little, but she was frighten of the unknown.
