Athena Previn and Ember Steele used to be best friends but when Embers stepmom decides she wants to be a model she is ripped from her hometown and her best friend and is forced to move to Angeles on her best friends 16th birthday. This sudden change hits both girls hard. After just over a year they both receive selection entry forms and both decide to enter without the knowledge of the other and for very different reasons. Athena wishes for love and an escape from her parents spiral towards disaster. Ember decides to enter in a search for happiness and a break from her parent's constant scrutiny.
When both girls are picked they have the shock of seeing the others face on the screen and then the excitement of seeing their own. In one year a lot can change. Can Athena and Ember reconnect in friendship or has too much changed.
Along with the struggle of friendship, they are also both fighting in the selection for Prince Nathan's heart. Can either win the heart of the prince or will the both be sent home?
