Rami Sonic always knew that the time would come for her to die. She'd heard their whispers in her dreams, explaining that she was one of them. One of the legendary wolves, a Guardian. But she's not like the others, those who forget the pain of losing their life. She will always remember.

Jessie Owens dreamed of wolves and snow long before the Guardians knew about him. They've always haunted his thoughts, appeared in his drawings and literature assignments. He simply can't rid himself of them.

When Rami goes with the others to visit Jessie's dreams, she is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Addicted to his view on life and his beautiful art and stories, she loves him without him even really knowing her. But she's determined to stop his death, to let him live past the age of sixteen without the wolves claiming him.

Faced with an impossible task, Rami and Jessie will both face challenges as their bond grows to something just beyond friendship. With his birthday pressing closer and closer, they have to keep hope or he'll lose his only chance at a normal life forever.
