Music is a magical thing. Literally. In ancient days, powerful families were born with the mystical power of spellcraft through magically enchanted instruments. But those days are long gone...

The magical world has long since died since the Great Melody- a disastrous and catastrophic symphony- devastated the magical community. Few aristocratic families still carry on the traditions and teachings of the Spellsong- magic through music.

Lilian was born into one of these families- in fact, she is the result of a joint union of two powerful and ancient Minstrel families, a phenomenon, and supposedly heir to a lineage of great power. But her song never came to her, and though musically, she is quite gifted, there is no magic behind the notes.

Brianna has moved time and time again, in and out of foster homes. There's nothing wrong with her personally, but things just seem to... happen when she's around. Now she finds herself in the quirky little backwoods town of Millerbrooke, where things start to get even weirder.

She and Lilian meet up, only to find their past and future are intricately woven together. A talking violin, a group of villainous musicians, and a power unlike any have seen before are all about to enter Brianna and Lilian's world- the only question is what they will do with it.
