The Hunger Games - Veteran
50 years since the war which broke the Hunger Games on Panem, Katniss and Peeta are the last living tributes left. As the memories of why everyone fought for freedom fades they hold strong to keep the honor of those they've lost still alive. Yet there's a fire burning through the capitol. Everything they fought against is creeping back with the new generation and a new election. The districts, the power outs, the hatred between the new capitol and the workers outside of it. After a tragic turn of events there's a call to bring back the Hunger Games. Will Katniss, Peeta and their family still have the fighting spirit to keep the peace. Or will the see their new Panem become just like the old one. Authors note: I wanted to write a story about a strong older aged woman. We looked up to Katniss when she was young, we can still look up to her when she's older.Zakończone

Everyone thought they were fighting for equality. That they were fighting, primarily, to end the Hunger Games. To end the brutal murder of twenty-three children each year. People killed for this, fought for it, died for it. But they lied. The bodies have barely been cleared from the streets before President Coin makes an announcement; the Hunger Games will continue. In a Panem that followed a history different from what we know. In such a world, tributes are pulled from the same pool, and so in addition to being reaped, sometimes you just know you don't have a chance; two boys from District 2 would plow through the rest, and all you can do is cry. ---------------------------------------------------------- She lived in 12 for generations of her family, but not in the filth, nor was she in a family of victors. No. She was the child of peacekeepers; she was trained to fight, in special schools for them, and even her name was only once in the reaping bowl as she grew, no matter what she did. People like her would be 12's future peacekeepers, raised and trained on site for generations of their families to be sure they know all there is to know about the district they'll keep in check. ---------------------------------------------------------- She grew up in 12, in the poorest part of 12. She'd hunt for her family with her friend and would exchange some wild game with the on-and-off boyfriend she had, son of the baker, or her best friend. Her life was hard.
