you lean back, his harsh tone echoing in your ears, "like what?"
he lifts up a hand, gesturing vaguely at your face, "like that."
your furrow your eyebrows in confusion, "i don't follow."
his frustration grows, and kyung-jun abruptly stands, his chair scraping across the floor. he stares down at you, his entire face twisted in anger, "do you pity me or something? do you think i need help? that you need to fix me?"
"what? no," you find yourself on your feet, pleading with him desperately so he doesn't misunderstand, "kyung-jun, i swear that is not what this is."
maybe at first that's what it felt like. guilt. an obligation to save kyung-jun's life when he had saved your own. but somewhere along the way, sometime during those tender, simple moments in his presence, you found that kyung-jun was different than you anticipated. he wasn't the bully you heard whispers about. there was more to him that he let on, than he allowed others to see. nowadays, when your eyes find his own, you see a boy who is hurting. who shoulders a heavy burden all alone.
"then why the fuck are you barging into my life acting like you care?"
