Clare and her brother were living with a highly known priest. Their dad was killed when their was born. As she grew up she learned exorcism from the priest, Giro. One day a woman came to them one day and Clare and her brother, Rentaro were hidden under the alter. She came up mid battle when Giro was refusing to give Clare and Rentaro to her. Purple flame's started to erupt around him. The woman was holding a katana with the same purple flames engulfing it. She charged at Giro. Clare leaped in and took the blow, but the woman pulled the blade back when Clare tried to take the blow. Clare was left with a scar on the right side of her upper lip. The woman retreated after saying one word, a name, her name: Rivia.

After that, Clare and Rentaro went to True Cross Academy.
