It had been two years since the Liars had discovered who was under that black hoodie and things were back to normal. The girls were taking a year off collage to settle into their new lives when they started getting more mysterious messages from A. It is revealed later in the story that the new A is not Charles, who is in jail. The girls now had a new 'A' on their hands and had to stop them before it was too late.
