"I still remember the days when I could talk. I remember a lot of things. That's all life is to me now, memories. They rush around my head, too many to control. But the memories that stand out the most, as if they were mangled scars on the skin of my life, are the days in which I was captured..." It is the year 2312 and the world's population is 16 billion. The humans labelled "useless" are sent to camps to be culled. Poor people, old people, disabled people, none of them are safe. Fifteen year old Nadia Bishop has been at Camp Noglastia for years. Freedom is nothing but a memory. But one day, everything changes, and Nadia finds herself in the deep, deep sea of survival. The question is, will she sink or will she swim?
