In the calm before the storm of battle Minseok stood frozen, painfully unsure of his destined part in it all; even with the cries of the masses desperate to crown him their forgotten King rallying at his back. If he continued on this path then no longer would he be the mourned, lost Prince, nor the unknowing human, Xiumin, living so blissfully unaware of the true bloodline calling out to him. He gazed across the blank canvas of fields soon to be irreversibly stained, and sought the enemy line but found only a reflection of his own hesitation. Until he clocked a lone figure braking out of the crowd, his heart surging through the gaps of his ribs with each shuddering breath in recognition, aching to reach out for that beautiful and vibrant man that had once completed his soul. Now all that stared back at him was artificial vacancy and emptiness. Any love inside Jongdae had been forcibly torn out, stolen and locked away, a preparation to turn him back into a void creature of death and war, to become the enemy once more.

"red looks beautiful on you, little prince," jongseong, the prince of the crimson kingdom, murmured, pressing the cold edge of a dagger against his husband's throat. his hand was steady, his smile cruel. he wanted nothing more than to be the one who ended the vampire's life. but jungwon only grinned - wide, defiant, dimples showing - as if the threat against his life was nothing but a game. he knew the grin infuriated the alpha. and that's exactly why he did it. "what's wrong?" jungwon taunted softly, voice like silk wrapped around a blade. "can't kill me yet?" jongseong's teeth ground together, the muscles in his jaw tight with rage. "don't be so impatient, little prince," he snarled. "your time will come. i'll make sure of that." another mocking chuckle slipped from jungwon's lips. that sound - once so precious, once a melody jongseong would have died to hear - now made his blood boil. those dimples, that softness - all lies. all things he despised now. "you're getting ahead of yourself" jungwon said lazily, voice thick with disdain. then, in a blink, his smile disappeared. his eyes - once warm, now cold as ice - darkened into something terrifying. rage. hate. a hatred so deep it seemed to echo through the empty halls. before jongseong could react, jungwon shoved him back - hard - until the werewolf was the one pinned against the wall, the dagger now turned against him. the tables had turned. the hunter had become the hunted. "you know the truth, don't you?" jungwon whispered, his breath ghosting against jongseong's skin. "you know you can't kill me." he pressed the blade harder - just enough to draw a single bead of blood. a reminder. "i will be the one to take your life," jungwon vowed, voice low and venomous. "and until that day comes..." his lips brushed jongseong's ear, words soaked in promise. "i will make your life a living hell."
