UnchainedHeart Contest Entry
I wrapped my heart in a barbed wire, in effort to keep people away. If someone tried to break it, they'd cut themselves, they'd feel my pain.
Then she appeared, who knows how. She was going to die. I could save her.
But she seemed to look through me, and I couldn't get a read on her. Everything she said could be lies, for all I knew.
I didn't want my secrets going around.

It started when the rain fell. As it hit the windows rhythmically, I fought my sleep. Fighting off the demons in my dreams. I hadn't realized how real that dream became.
