"Mommy!" Annie heard her son, Jack, yell.
"What's wrong, honey?" Annie asked asked the 5 year old boy that was breathing unevenly, as she wiped the sweat away from her son's face with her hands.
"I was playing soccer with a-auntie, and
s-she threw the ball in a h-hole, the hole was so s-small, it couldn't fit two rabbits , a-and when she tried to g-get the ball out of the h-hole, s-she, s-she," the boy started sobbing, he couldn't finish his sentence.
"She what, Jack? Say it." she was confused and worried that her sister could be hurt, so she encouraged him to finish.
"She fell down, mommy. She fell down the rabbit hole."
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
