Aspen Elam is the last girl you'd expect to fit in at her new school in California. Girls there are tanned, thin and beautiful. Aspen, as she's been told in her new school, is anything but. So she decided to change herself. But changing yourself doesn't always mean letting go of your dreams; she wants to write. And so she grows close to the one person who will believe in her dream: her English teacher. But things are never easy when you love someone out of bounds - how will they cope when the whole world is against them?
