Young women keep disappearing from Tupelo without a trace. Matthew Coleman a 33 y/o detective from Washington D.C gets sent to work on the case, but with no improvement. 
His colleagues blames him for not doing his job and he gets harassed for his interest in men. Another detective takes his place. 
But before the plane to Washington D.C  departures, he meets 19 y/o Victoria, a girl familiar with guns and drugs. Living with her aunt on the countryside she desperately tries to figure out what to do with her life.  Matthew seems to fascinate her and she wants to help him with the mysterious case. Matthews lies to his boss back in Washington D.C and tells him the replacement was a mistake, and that he is still working on the case. Together with Victoria they trace down to what seems more like a horror story than just missing people.
