Maysen Montgumery is the eldest daughter of Beta James Montgumery and Addison Montgumery, sister to Megahn Montgumery, and she is the next in line to become Beta of the Moonshadow Pack, one of North Carolina's smaller, weaker packs. Though a violent, bloody battle leaves her without a family and an Alpha, leaving her to rule the pack by herself at the age of 17.

Nicholas Jones is the Alpha of North Carolina's strongest and largest pack, Bloodwind. At the age of 13 he took over the pack from his father after he had been slaughtered by a pack of rogues. The tragedy left his mother mate less, sending her into an unstable state. After trying to take her son's life and then her own, she was forced to be cast out from the pack. His experiences left him a ruthless, mate less man, desperate for love yet desperate for anything but at the age of 24.

She thinks her life is over, now ran only by paper work and stress.
