Within every person, a community of beliefs, dreams and possibilities vie for power. Hope McKenzie is no different. Some of her Echoes glow with inspiration, accepted as fact. Over time, others wither to dust or fade from sight, neglected or rejected. 
A beggar Fade on the lowest rungs of the social order, Forsephore is so far gone that she has forgotten the ideal she represents.
While legal assistant and social misfit Hope struggles through the doldrums and tedium of her daily grind, the goals she pursues dwindle from lofty to mundane.
"Maybe I can get that promotion next year, or at least a bonus... I won't go over 160 on the scale... Tonight, I'll do something more than watch another season of sitcoms... I won't become the crazy cat lady..."
Facing a slow descent into madness and lost identity, Forsephore scrambles for any opportunity to change the status quo. A sudden realization and a casual question provide the chance she needs.
