Public fear caused by wars, terrorists and the ever-present threat of danger, has been used by a tyrannical, industry-based corporation to take over the world. They have transformed all governments into a one-world power, creating bloodshed and violence in the process.
By 2023, this power known as the Concordian Union has eliminated all outside threats and promised its citizens safety, food, and jobs at the cost of freedom. Rules must be followed in the newly formed population centers, and the givers of peace distribute the terror.
Fueled by an ever-present longing for vengeance after the Union murdered his family, Bishop Ayers stays on the run outside the grip of the new rulers, relying on the earth's resources to survive. His company is a devoted best friend and the friend's persnickety wife. Bishop struggles to keep the enemy at bay while juggling a growing misanthropy and a war within his head.
