❝ Our ancestors are always watching over us from their place in the stars . . . ❞

Ethereal. A peaceful afterlife where the twinkling little lights that we see every night are its dead inhabitants. Run by the Council of Angels, each dead soul is given a Star of Memoria, and as long as their Stars shine, they will be remembered by their living loved ones. After a certain amount of time, the souls' Stars will be saved in Archives and they will be reincarnated.

Asteria. Our main protagonist, a tiny Star in a big world. But when the bloody war Ethereal Fall kindles from a malfunctioning machine, secrets upon secrets are revealed. How will our average dead soul deal with this major turn of events?

... No one will remember.

The path fate lays before us is often many years in the making, and the tale of the Phoenix and the God-spawn is no different. Nearly 3,000 years before the war that would bring about Astaroth's defeat, another battle was waged to ensure there would be a future to fight for. Duty has been thrust upon Prince Azael Cadhael for centuries, first by filling the role of an uncrowned King, but his true story begins as all royal stories do: with a ball, a secret, and a peculiar dream. When Azael overhears the whispered plans of his betrothed and her twin brother to leave with the Phoenix on a goddess-given quest, he must surrender to a new type of duty entirely. Navigating his ever increasingly strained relationship with Tissaia Lochren while striving to save the future of his kingdom isn't a job easily done, and her closeness with the Phoenix, Kaius, certainly doesn't make it any easier. Tissaia has spent years in the shadows of her own failure and her father's wrath. Kaius's quest offers her and her brother Talarion a chance to claim their freedom at long last, but fighting ones' past can be just as deadly as fighting an armed foe, especially if that past isn't keen on backing down. If they're going to succeed, all four of them must learn to recognize the power in truth and bared secrets, as well as the strength in kinship. If they fail, it could mean the doom of all Asterria for an age. But if they succeed, perhaps fate will be kinder than they have been led to believe. Warning: This book, while being a work of fiction, still deals with real and mature elements. There will be chapters dealing with abuse, gore, PTSD, torture, sexual content, and other topics. FORMER TITLE: Élan: A Youngblood World "Beware that you become not the very monster you ought to slay." Five friends embark on a quest to thwart an all-out cryptid-human war ... while the human-clothed creature among them resists the urging hunger to ravage his companions. When the Cardinal Empire and Nyrhaea's time-forsaken creatures declare war on the human world, an immortal dark entity in the guise of a human, a broken swordsman, a spoiled electric-manipulating technocrat, an unhinged fire-breathing boy, and a magic-less girl whose very existence defies the Laws of Mahika, venture to stop the apocalyptic war. All the while dealing with the complications of entering adulthood. With the grotesque inside him growing hungrier by the day, threatening him of the looming hour he'll fulfill destiny's bidding to be the key to the end of the world, the entity resorts to a mysterious girl who could only be his last hope to free him from the shackles of fate--an antidote given not without an undefined price. But how long can he endure to bury the roots of the calling past? And what are they willing to risk to liberate a world beyond saving where trust, sanity, and long-term camaraderie are put to the test? *~* Contains a few depictions of blood, violence, and dark psychological elements. There isn't enough words spoken in such a lifetime to describe all that you meant to me, but I will give my life wishing that you will once again hear me. To long for a love--how strange it will be to dream of you again. So close to forever, the fated is fate. For as long as the clocks of our two worlds coincide so shall our paths. Even still, the next time that we cross, even in death the price will remain a life. Fate doesn't bend nor does it break. So which fate is their true destiny? ---------------------------- ⚠️You don't have to read the entire trilogy to understand the storyline in this particular book, but there will be character and scene crossovers occasionally. #10 in Ethereal on 08/16/2020 3rd Place in the Angel Awards '20
