Clary witnessed the murder of her parents when she was only six. She remembers parts as if it was a slide-show. The main image that comes to her head all the time is when the murderer handed her a beautiful white rose she gave her parents,but this time the blood of her parents were splattered all over it.  Other incidents had occurred with murders just like this one. "It's only a serial killer, we'll catch him!" That's what they promised her.  Yes, he's a serial killer. They just don't know it's a vampire.
