In the Inception universe, where mankind has invented technology that allows them to enter dreams and share dream-space, there exists Mr Cobb and many others that use this technology to extract information from the dreamer's subconscious. However there are also many others that use it to simply escape their day to day lives, and to be woken up, to dream once again.

However law dictates that there should be no personal use of the dream technology. Although the technology has been removed from the general public and strictly controlled for only 'research purposes' there are still many people and shady organisations that use the technology outside the law. Phil has lost almost everything, including his ability to dream. He will do anything to escape reality and to dream once again. As Phil soon discovers, be careful who you dream with. Not everyone is as they seem.
