By the age of thirteen Brooke decided she would never love. She'd seen what it can do to a person, to a family, and everyone close to them. She vowed to never care for someone that strongly, ever, even if it meant pushing away everyone who ever cared about her.

Now at eighteen, about to start her second semester of college, Brooke is just a shell of a person. Between trying to take care of her mom and handle classes, while trying to earn enough money to pay the rent, Brooke doesn't have time for trying to make friends, not that she would want to. Everything is heading in the direction she had always planned, being alone and taking care of herself until she meets Luke. Is it possible that he could be the only exception to her rules of love.
